About Us

The Mid Torrens Catchment Group Inc has been working with local landholders in the Cudlee Creek, Kersbrook Creek and River Torrens catchments since its inception in 2001. The Group aims to gain funding to extend opportunities to landholders and the wider community in undertaking natural resource management activities. For example, watercourse rehabilitation, remnant vegetation restoration and sustainable agricultural activities. Funding is provided by grants from the Adelaide and Mount Lofty Rangers Natural Resource Management Board. The Board also provides a District Officer assisting with planning and technical advice.

The Mid Torrens Catchment area covers 10,394 hectares and is unique, with steep terrain, many small land holdings and lifestyle farms, mixed with long-term family farms with interests in horticulture and live stock grazing. With such complex land uses it is important to try to improve productivity, whilst sustainably managing native vegetation and riparian areas. Our long term aim is to work with landholders and government agencies to restore and preserve the River Torrens ecosystem through enhancing biodiversity and water quality in the Catchment.
