The Mid Torrens Catchment
Group have been working with the local community in the Mid Torrens
region since 2001.The group aims to help landholders within the
catchment, and the wider community, by providing assistance to create a
cohesive and constructive program. The project aims to provide a focus
for new and existing landholders, and enable individuals and the
community, through education and planning, to take action and tackle
their own water quality and land management issues
The Group can assist the
local community by providing:
- Funding
assistance for land management activities.
- Technical
advice on land management and environmental issues.
- Property
planning advice and services.
- Community
education and support.
- A link to
local, state and federal government contacts.
How does the project work?
The Mid Torrens Catchment Group is supported by the Adelaide and Munt
Lofty Ranges Natural Resources Management Board and SA Water. The Group
supports property improvement strategies to encourage a
whole-of-landscape approach through financial incentives and technical
support. The group will help landholders to:
- Protect remnant
vegetation to create habitat for native fauna
- Revegetate with local
native plant species
- Protect and enhance
riparian and zone riparian zones
- Farm forestry and
agricultural productivity improvement
- Fence remnant
vegetation, revegetation and riparian areas
- Be involved
in education, property planning and community activities
- Access information and
technical advice
